I'm using Drupal 7.27 Wysiwyg 7.x-2.2, and the latest version of TinyMCE (4.0.23). The Wysiwyg module configuration page (admin/config/content/wysiwyg) states that the main TinyMCE JavaScript file should reside at sites/all/libraries/tinymce/jscripts/tiny_mce/tiny_mce.js
. In the TinyMCE archive file, the path to the JavaScript file has some differences in directory names and the filename, specifically: tinymce/js/tinymce/tinymce.min.js
. So I installed all of the contents of the archive file into sites/all/libraries/tinymce/jscripts/tiny_mce/
and then adjusted the directory and file names to match the instructions on the Wysiwyg module configuration page.
Upon being refreshed, that page states that "The version of TinyMCE could not be detected.", and TinyMCE is still not installed. Incidentally, this problem was seen back in Drupal 6.
Anyone have any ideas on what is going wrong or how I could get it to work? Thanks!

TwoDDowngrade to TinyMCE 3 until we have proper support for version 4 in Wysiwyg.
Lots of other stuff changed as well.
I'll soon post an updated patch to the linked issue, but the toolbar looks like crap so we must get button sorting worked out as well, which is what I've been dealing with the last couple of months.

bambi_2 CreditAttribution: bambi_2 commentedI did the same, but now I can´t see the editor when I want to add or edit a node.
It went well configuring Wysiwyg/TinyMCE, to choose buttons and so on, but then... nothing.

zestudio.net CreditAttribution: zestudio.net commentedHi,
The header of the JS script should be in a specific format :
// 4.2.1 (2015-06-29) majorVersion:"4",minorVersion:"2.1",releaseDate:"2015-06-29"
instead of only
// 4.2.1 (2015-06-29)

Vietyank CreditAttribution: Vietyank as a volunteer commentedI have modified the JS script file as instructed in #4. I have an input filter called Wysiwyg Editor. When I create content, I enable rich text but do not see the TinyMCE toolbar.
I am trying to upgrade from 3.5.6.

Tim81NL CreditAttribution: Tim81NL commented#4 worked with latest version of wysiwyg (7.x-2.4) and TinyMCE 4.5.7 as listed in the compatibility matrix. This proved to fix the detection problem after following instructions and renaming some of the files and folder structure in 4.5.7
https://www.drupal.org/docs/7/modules/wysiwyg/supported-editors-matrix
EDIT: Of course, there's some other issues now ;-)
