Why can't open enterprise be based on Panopoly?

Here are the advantages I see:

  1. It will solve installation/distribution level issues like this and this.
  2. We get all the utility of panels for free. Site builders prefer drag and drop styles panels any day over the plain vanilla interface.
  3. Panopoly plays nice with layouts. A typical use case for enterprises will be to try outdifferent components of a page in different layouts, like slideshow below the menu, FAQ next to the contact form etc.
  4. Lot of things are in tune with Open Enterprise ideas, like apps and built in WYSIWYG.
  5. search functionality(with faceting) and UI ships with Panopoly.
  6. Panles + layouts means better support for themes like Omega 4(thinking of an Omega 4 based Navin in near future) and adaptive themes.
