I'm just not clear in the installation / usage instructions so I'm left with the question....

Do I need to actually install SimplePie on my server or do I just need the SimplePie.inc file to reside in the Gcal_Events folder in Drupal?

If I do need SimplePie installed on my server, where in relationship to Drupal and my Gcal_Events folder should I install it?

Yes you will need the simple pie script. As of recent changes it is using the libraries module to install it to sites/all/libraries/simplepie, but when you posted this it was just as simple as throwing the script into the module directory.

Those instructions are for ERPAL module but it's probably the same for GCal Events module
