Yeah,
The D8 version of this module is on my TODO list.
I'm waiting for Field API to be ready and stable before start to work on it.
If you want to start to work on it... patches are really welcomed.
Not sure if you're at Dev Days. If you're here, we could talk about this in person.

Unfortunately I had no ability to go to Dev Days this year, but I hope I'll visit it in the future.
I'll do my best and try to provide first patch soon.
