Hi,

We're working on a drupal site and for the first time decided to use/press the following options:

Regional and language -> Translate interface -> Strings (here we selected 'contact forms', 'fields', 'node types', 'menu', and left the default option 'clean up left over strings' enabled).

Regional and language -> Translate interface -> Update (default settings)

After we ran these options we cleaned the sites cache (performance) and then all of a sudden the site became a complete mess (quirks mode is activated, by default). Even when using the administration functions with the Garland team everything is outlined wrongly and differently. Buttons are not styled (quirks mode enabled). This behaviour applies and occurs in both IE and Chrome. Within Firefox things look better.

Does anybody know what the 'clean up left over strings' does and whether this could be the reason why the sites now starts in Quirks mode by default?

Ps. We can't configure the default browsing mode within the drupal configuration options, can we?

Kind regards,

Tim
