I do not plan to make a version for Drupal 8, because i just can not work on all javascript necessary. My plan is to use colorbox (for my website) because it has a javascript code appart from module, which i think better.

If someone provides a working patch for Drupal 8, i will review and commit, but i will not do it myself.

Maintainer is not planning on doing this. Reopen this if you will be doing the port.
