I have the following modules enabled in a Drupal 7.24 installation:

FlexSlider 7.x-2.0-alpha3
FlexSlider Views Slideshow 7.x-2.x-dev
Views 7.x-3.7
Views Slideshow 7.x-3.1

I've created several views using the flexslider plugin. I am using thumbnail navigation. On the first first visit to the page created in views, the first slide partially loads the initial image. (see the attached image flexslider-partial-load.jpg).

After clicking a thumbnail or resizing the browser window the full image will then load. (see attached image flexslider-full-load.jpg).

You can see a live example at here.

Do you have the smooth height option active?
If so this can be related to https://drupal.org/node/2086525

Yes I have set the smooth height option to active. Without it the slides load as expected but then there is a gap between the slides and the thumbnail images that navigate the slides. It seems that flexslider calculates the height of the tallest image in the slide show and sets the thumbnails below that. So if there are slides of differing height the shorter ones will have a gap between them and the thumbnails.

It would be really helpful if a solution could be found for this. Flexslider is a great module that I would love to continue to use.

Issue summary: View changes

I applied the "failed" patch given in https://drupal.org/node/2086525 by #1. The patch was successfully applied and it appears to have fixed the problem of the first slide partially loading. The patch also seems to have fixed a problem I was having on the iPhone where the page would sometimes freeze up the browser. Seems to good to be true but I've got my fingers crossed.
