Hi,
Currently we have some sites in 6.x and 7.x. We hadn't made the switch to 8 waiting for the modules etc to catch up and I saw that Drupal 9 is coming. We are considering upgrading some (from 6 to 7 or maybe 8) but need to know what the benefits would be in the long run to justify the work?
Is there somewhere showing the differences between the versions?

yep--- that's the entire point of release notes as well as CHANGELOG.txt. The changelog comes with every version of drupal and the release notes are available via the drupal project page.
And just an fyi--- d8 is still probably close to a year off, probably another 6 months after that, at least, before it becomes viable with contrib, and who knows how may years away d9 will be.
Hi WorldFallz,
Hi WorldFallz,
I was really after something like a comparison chart with the versions and features next to each other in one place. I hadn't thought of looking for a changelog.txt for 8 and 9 here somewhere.
Also looking at the release notes doesn't tell me that much in terms of functionality. Maybe I'm looking at the wrong ones? This is where I started:

Don't know of any chart like that. And dev snapshot release notes (as opposed to official releases), dont usually have much. You're probably better off with the changelog... I think that's always current.
Oh, OK. Well when I have all
Oh, OK. Well when I have all the info I might make a chart myself but then again it seems that it's only me who's interested in it.
Thanks for your help.
The differences are primarily
The differences are primarily in the APIs, which then make their way to the user facing interface. You can see differences between APIs in the following links:
