This module hasn't had a stable release since 2011. The maintainer is also asking for co-maintainers, so is openly calling for help. It's listed as Maintenance fixes only which is understandable but there are over 20k sites using this module. There's really got to be a way to see that this is done more sustainably.

There aren't all that many open bugs, but it's clear that there's a call for new maintainers.

I've proposed a few issues that might help bring in more motivated developers:

Ultimately though it depends on the community of folks using this code. I do think it would be beneficial to talk about giving the maintainer the support that he has asked for.

I expect this project has been abandoned.

It's listed as Seeking co-maintainer(s), but I reached out to the maintainers.

There are 20k sites using this module. That should be critical mass to ensure it is maintained.

EDIT: @axel.rutz is responsible for the module maintenance in D7.

I have contacted the maintainer offering to review/commit some of the RTBC patches and look into some open issues.

@stefan.r: thanks for stepping forward on this and PMing me!
I welcome and appreciate you coming aboard.

Alas, it looks like @markus_petrux did not give me full admin rights.
Can you ask him about this?

Also feel free to PM me if i can help.

I have reviewed and committed any open RTBC issues and released a version 7.x-1.6-rc3. We'll tag a 7.x-1.6 stable release once the following issues have been resolved, and no further major/critical issues come in:

Title: ETA on Stable Release? 7.x-1.6 & Co-Maintainership » Roll a stable release

I spent a bit cleaning up the queue. Due to lack of workable info i'd suggest leaving out the 2 issues above.
Rolled a RC4.

This issue i deem important, test is appreciated: #2856897: The filter freaks our when there is ">" in one of the attributes
After that i'd suggest finally going stable before D7 EOL ;-).

EDIT: forgotten for today: #1077900: rel="nofollow" goes onto all relative links, allow relative links in whitelist?
