When some user create a OG, there are no validation to avoid duplicates in OG names. I understand that Commons generate diferent paths for this groups (prova, prova-2... p.e.) however this behavior generate potential confusion.

My gut says that this is 'by design' and that its upto the administrator to not make duplicate named groups.

We only postfix the path because you cannot have two paths going to different places. But there are probably use cases where admins would want to use the same name.
