We are replacing with 6.x RC4 for a travel guide site with OpenResort module and few other 5.x modules...What're the Possible and Avoidable Common Issues? We're much familiar with 5.x, though.

By all means download RC4,
By all means download RC4, start developing and testing using it (and report any issues you find!), but you are not recommended to upgrade a live site to use it yet - it is not fully released and many popular contrib modules don't support it yet (including openresort, views and cck).
