This project is somewhat complicated and will require an experienced developer. Your time spent drawing up a proposal for this project may be worth reimbursing. If that's something in which you'd be interested, give me some sense of your resume and experience with Drupal as well as the time and cost it would take to put together such a proposal.

We are a medical library (http://library.med.cornell.edu) and we are considering implementing one of two alternative CMSs-- one of which is Drupal, the other being Fatwire. Right now, we are wondering how Drupal can meet our needs and what kind of costs might be incurred.

Thus far, we have put together a few test pages using XHTML and CSS, which are listed and linked to here:
http://library2.med.cornell.edu/Test/inventory1.html

A requirements list is available here:
http://library2.med.cornell.edu/Test/requirements_list020508.pdf

Here are some highlights for the project:

* theme creation: essentially, there is the home page and there are the individual pages
* transitioning of 40-80 old pages
* global search toolbar: we have identified a Solr-driven solution as one that would meet our users' needs of rapidly finding bibliographic records for Electronic Resources (if you want to see our proposal for our electronic resource reorganization, I'll be happy to pass that along)
* "smart" content; we want a "related links" section, among others, to show up on many of the pages
* breadcrumbs
* five existing forms, none of which are very slick; these could be updated

Because a few of the items on the requirements list may not make sense or have no immediate solution, I would prefer that any proposal be itemized.

Our goal with any prospective proposal is two-fold:
1. to get a sense of how much our plan for development will cost in the Drupal environment
2. to gather more evidence to support a decision to go with Drupal or Fatwire; to this end, one key determinant is how much code already exists in the form of modules that would save us/developers time and money (that is where an experienced developer can be a lifesaver)

The budget could be in the five figures.

Paul

Solr module for Drupal: http://drupal.org/project/solr
Related links module: http://drupal.org/project/relatedlinks

Here is a site for library based Drupal folks: http://drupalib.interoperating.info/

Seems very doable in Drupal using the above modules and doing some theming. Good luck

Thanks, ghankstef. Would you believe that the inclusion of Solr as a search technology was not by accident? :)

We have identified a likely developer, but we are awaiting for admin approval to go with Drupal.
