Currently there is no option to remove the first pager element if Drupal comments are not used and if a social plugin is used for that purpose.

Is there a way to restrict smart paging only to the nodes with smart paging filter enabled through the text formats? It seems now it is overwriting the core pagination as well? Any thoughts or am i missing anything?

I agree with 1st poster.
"page=0%2C1" unless comment module enabled is quite ugly.

At "Manage display" of your content type settings, use the option "Show Smart Paging settings during content editing of this content type" (check the attached screenshot).

Overwriting? In what case?
