How do we manage files uploaded by "Image Module".

All files are stored on /files/images

Any better file management to ease maintenance?

But I like Image module.

Try IMCE module, it compliments FCKeditor as well as give 'per user' rights to images.
These are 'content images' (to be used in content types -books-pages-story-forum) vs. "file depot".

Also, there is differene between "file" and "image" management so keep that in mind in your search.
Using CCK and views you can crate your own sytem of file management...there is also some modules arround: http://drupal.org/node/206708
