Hi All.

Im from Australia, had a website built in Vietnam and paid in full. now that im making changes to the site they have changed the administrator password and are demanding money to give it back to me.
What can i do to get it back?
Please help!!

Once you have paid for a site it is wise to take copy.

In any case it is logical to leave the site with developers based in Vietnam for hosting, it would be more logical to take it and sort out your own hosting in Australia or Singapore.

Once you have a copy of all files and databases you control the site. It does not matter if you do not know the password for User 1, you can change that.

Your developers should transfer to site to hosting of your choosing, where you can of course change passwords on the hosting, once you have paid and the site is ready for use. Or they could send you a copy of the files and database privately. If you can log in to the site, the new Backup and Migrate (version 3 ) also allows downloading of all files and database via the Drupal admin interface rather than logging in to the server.

There are very good devs in the the developing world, and there are devs in the developing world who charge lower than normal international rates. However, cheap and good rarely go together, so if you picked developers in Vietnam in the hope that in Vietnam and cheap and good do go together, you may be among the many customers who are disappointed to find that the quality/price equation is not much different that it would be for developers based in Oz, USA, Europe, or India. High quality developers with a reputation of honesty and generous treatment of clients can charge international rates wherever they are based, and do.
