There are Drupal 6 RC2 already released, forum in 6.x have some improvements. I create some working sites on Drupal 6.x. Does exist any developing versions of module Advanced forum for Drupal 6.x? I'm ready to test it!

I don't even have it done for 5, yet, and there are major changes in theming in 6 so it's not a simple port. It will be some time before I get to this.

With the release of D6 likely next week, and on the advice of catch, I've changed the order of my to do list. I'm going to work on advforum in 6 and backport my changes.

I'm about 3/4ths done with this. None of the contrib modules that advforum makes use of are ported, yet, so I don't know how useful the port will be for a while.

Hopefully this will use Drupal 6's new theming layer to make it so that hacking the theme is not necessary to use this module?

Yes, that's why it's taking so long. I thought I was 3/4ths done then ran into things that were harder than I expected. I'm getting closer, though. :)
