At one point in time, I had a configuration option when I was creating a group to either user the default roles and permissions or be able to override them.
Similar to what can be seen in this screenshot (that I am borrowing from someone else's post)
http://i.stack.imgur.com/SwFSE.png

Now I am looking for that setting, and I cannot find it. It is listed in my group content type fields as seen in this screenshot

screenshot shows the roles and permissions field

, but I cannot see the configuration option when i view/edit/create a group content type.

In the intervening time since I remember seeing the option, I have updated from commons 3.2 to 3.3, changed themes, done a lot of configurations, so I'm not sure what specific change affected this.

Should I still have this setting in commons 3.3? Did it disappear as part of the group privacy reconfiguration? Did I do something wrong that erased it?

I am wanting to tinker with setting as part of setting up a rule to set site roles based on group roles as discussed in this issue

thanks for any leads anyone can provide.

They are located in site "configuration"

Looks like this:
OG settings

Thanks @rosemeria. Yes I do have those settings and can configure permissions there.

But what I'm looking for is this setting that I no longer can find:
permissions options radio buttons i do not see

This is what I do see:
the privacy/permission settings i do see

I know DC3.3 made changes to provide the new privacy setting options, but I don't know if it intentionally took away the "use default"/"override defaults" options, or if I've done something wrong.

That's OG's core field that determines if the group should use the global roles and permissions or override them. In commons we now override them, allowing each group to have it's own set of permission settings.

Thank @rosemeria. That's what I had figured with the 3.3 modifications, just wanted to make sure. Thanks for taking the time to answer and clarify.

@othermachines is wanting some input from the Commons maintainers about that patch to add Rules configurations based on OG Role and the implications of having the default roles/perms overriden in Commons.
