The module works fine if I choose only one contact from the list. However, when choosing more than one, when I click send mass email, I get a "The requested page could not be found" message.

Cannot reproduce this error. Views Send 6.x-1.0-rc1 with VBO 6.x-1.16 is working fine for me, regardless if sending a message to one or more recipients.

We need more info from your drupal/webserver/database logs to tell what is going on. This could be related to #1905104: Cannot proceed to confirmation page due to error "Please select at least one item" where the problem is too low max_allowed_packet for MySQL.
