I'm happy to see that the "html code counter" issue on the "summary or trimmed" option is being worked on #221257: text_summary() should output valid HTML and Unicode text, and not count markup characters as part of the text length but it would be nice to have the trim setting also in the "plain text" format.

I don't understand why if you chose the plain text format you can't control the length of the output text.
