When I first met with Drupal, I was awfully lost in it's complexity and flexibility.

Although there are plenty examples of how some funtionality is implemented, I would have been very gratefull if I had an full functional demo site (like shipped with Typo3 and the one at http://demo.contao.org/)

I used these before Drupal, and the demo site gave me a head start.

So I am wondering if there are any volunteers to build a full functional demo site with me?

I am assuming that you do not need a basic Drupal installation and you would also like to have demo content on your website in order to review and test it's different features. To achieve that, I would suggest that you install the Devel. It will:

Accelerate development of your site or module by quickly generating nodes, comments, terms, users, and more.
