I am probably going about this the wrong way, but here goes.
I am new to Drupal, and have the task of managing a number of websites running on differing Drupal instances (and finding the learning curve fairly steep).
One of the Drupal instances (running on 6.26 core) has Views 6.x-3.0 and Views Slideshow 6.x-2.4 installed.
Reading the Requirements list on the Views Slideshow project page, I note the brief statement "There is no upgrade path from views slideshow 2 to views slideshow 3".
Now, while the site concerned is operating happily, I am wondering about migration issues if I ever wish to upgrade to Drupal 7. I assume that I would be better to have the Drupal 6 version running on Slideshow 6.x-3.0 before considering that path. What information do I need to gather from the site's existing views before I attempt this upgrade? Can I export these views so that I have something useful to reinstate after the upgrade, or do I really have to recreate each view from the ground up?
I couldn't find any information regarding running Views 3.0 and Slideshow 2.4, so I have no idea if I am just lucky that it is still working, or whether this is a supported configuration. And when I manage to get Slideshow 3.0 working under Drupal 6, is it a simple process to upgrade that to Drupal 7, or am I going to need to rewrite the Slideshow again after that upgrade?
So many questions ... so little time ... :)

NickDickinsonWildeSupport for Views Slideshow 6.x is mostly deprecated (ie bug fixes and major errors may be looked at and security issues, but not really anything else), so closing.
