Hi,

it looks like the path_to_theme() ran in a template file of my omega sub-theme returns sites/all/themes/omega/omega.

As it is being run in my theme it shouldn't it return something like sites/all/themes/my_omega?

Yep, confirmed... This is caused by the same problem as #2081423: Incorrect 'theme path' definition in theme-registry overrides.... Closing this as duplicate. Fix incoming in the other issue.
