Hello all!

I've been looking at the forums for some time now, but i haven't managed to find an answer to my "problem".

The project is to create a website for a local band, which is fairly simple. However, they want the possibility to update the content themself (news, discography, upload songs, pictures and so on), thus i'm looking at Drupal, so i don't have to make a cms myself.

The site is using AJAX in order to have a Music Player beeing active during the visitors entire visit.

What i basicaly want DRUPAL to do, is to maintain the content :)

I've made a conceptual graph here, just to make it easier to understand: http://chris.colonyrpg.com/images/ConceptualWebSiteGraph.jpg

Is this possible to do with Drupal?

If anything is unclear, just ask :)

Thanks,
Chris

Of course, drupal would be perfect, if I understand your concept correctly. All content -- whether images, video, audio, or static content -- can be created and if necessary, updated in drupal by individual members. Your graph shows the content existing outside of drupal, however, or so it seems.

Yeah. Theoreticly it does (the way i'm used to create websites atleast). How should i go ahead to make the site like that? i mean, i can't even figure out how to make any "advanced" stuffs.. like creating my own index.php :P

I do not know how to make a site in which content resides outside of drupal. I suppose it can be done, but there would be no point in using drupal in that case, I do not believe.

Well, i could have the content pages within drupal, but i don't know how it works =)

If its possible to do that? to have the site structure outside of drupal, that is

You need to experiment with drupal. You can take all your old site content and move it into drupal. It will work fine.

... is throw away your graph. Seriously. All that stuff at the top (Ajax, in particular) is going to generate negative value in the areas of maintainability and search engine optimization. The latter point is far more important than most people understand. A site that can't be found in Google does not exist. Drupal uses Ajax appropriately -- to accelerate and enhance usability -- without destroying page integrity.

Install Drupal, learn how it works, and take a close look at the growing collection of music sites that are using Drupal. Listen to this podcast in particular:

You have to start using drupal. I was amazed with the abitlity to customize drupal. Once you start using drupal u can find all the things that will be needed for doing the customizations. I Still keep refining my drupal websites.
