Can i make such thing?:

For example:
I want to have a static "welcome-page"
which will`be linked "Home"(default)in my menu
&
I want to have another site section where all my posts
(which are now situated on home-page by default)
will be situated and this part of a site
will be linked "News" in my menu.

Is it real? (for less misunderstanding see p.s.s.)

Thanks a lot/

p.s. sorry for english.

p.s.s. in /site configuration/ choosing a "default page" from drop=down menu is not what I want.

The 4.2 version of Drupal lets you assign any URL as your home page. Very flexible indeed. Point your 'News' link to the relative url /node and you'll have what you want.

is it possible to renew old drupal (4.1) with this version?

You can do it, but you really don't want to.

Welcome pages, or "splash pages" as they're frequently called, are really horrible things. You should never use them unless you have a properly legitimate use, like selecting a language (even then it's probably best done with flag graphics top-right on your main site).

People have come to see your web site, not a page that says "have you come to see my web site?"

i wonder if we should add a no preaching request on the posting guidelines here ... let this person have whatever web site he wants.

I've had clients make exactly the same (legitimate) request.
