I've had strange behavior installing Drupal 8.x on my Mac, curious if others have suggestions. Here's what happens.
1) Installing the latest Drupal 8.x on my Mac, where I run MAMP PRO 2.1, PHP 5.3.20
2) The progress bar doesn't show at all during the install process
3) After the install is complete, the admin menu doesn't render properly (text is printed on the screen instead saying "Tray orientation changed to horizontal"). All contextual link icons are visible at all times.
I am able to resolve the issue by logging out, then logging back in, and clearing cache.
For what it's worth, I have increased my memory limits in PHP to 256M, and made sure magic_quotes is disabled (both based on other posts I've seen).
This has been consistent behavior the past few months. Any help appreciated.

This was filed when Drupal 8.0 was still in alpha and the PHP version being used is now outdated. I think it is safe to close this as outdated.
