New version planned soon as current is soon 2 years old?

I recently discovered that the 2.x branch has been killed and that, according to the project page, many of its new features will be ported to the 1.x branch. Looking through the commits I see quite a bit of that work already has gotten far.

Thus I would like to ask if the maintainers could give me an idea about if a 1.2 version is planned any time soon? After all, the current stable version is almost two years old now and there have been quite a bit of fixes and added features since.
