Not exactly a bug - more of a compatibility issue with other modules and IE9.
Referencing here in case someone else stumbles across the same problem. As written in #2038641: Flexslider doesn't like console.log() calls in IE9, fitvids console.log() call makes flexslider die in IE9. Not sure where the actual problem is - flexslider or IE9. But removing the call to console.log() in fitvids makes everything play nice and well again.
