I'm not even sure this is related to Advanced Forum since the error message doesn't not the module itself. But, I do get the string of warnings when I drill down from the main forum page (/forum) into one of the listed forums.
Since these are only warnings, they don't seem to be affecting the functionality of the module. I discovered them accidentally when I turned on "display errors to screen".
Here's what I'm seeing:
* warning: Invalid argument supplied for foreach() in /home/juice00/public_html/modules/node/node.module on line 521.
* warning: implode(): Bad arguments. in /home/juice00/public_html/modules/node/node.module on line 525.
* user warning: You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near '' at line 1 query: SELECT n.nid, n.vid, n.type, n.status, n.created, n.changed, n.comment, n.promote, n.sticky, r.timestamp AS revision_timestamp, r.title, r.body, r.teaser, r.log, r.format, u.uid, u.name, u.picture, u.data FROM node n INNER JOIN users u ON u.uid = n.uid INNER JOIN node_revisions r ON r.vid = n.vid WHERE in /home/juice00/public_html/includes/database.mysql.inc on line 172.
Thanks,
Kevin

MichelleI haven't run into this on the dev site. Not much of a help, sorry. I'll leave it active but it's hard for me to troubleshoot something I can't reproduce. If someone else runs into this, please comment and maybe we can see what's common on both sites that isn't on my dev site.

kenyan CreditAttribution: kenyan commentedI am using garland themeI get the same SQL error when I have created a forum under a category.
I am doing this live as i have the same issue.
1. I create a forum under a category --No issue
2. I click on the newly created forum to post a topic-- I get the error:
But, I still get the link to post a topic.
3. Click on the link to post a topic presents the topic form which I fill in and submit -- no errors, topic is created as by messages from the form "Your Forum topic has been created." -- no errors shown
BUT NOW IT GETS WEIRD!!!
The forum topic is promoted to the frontpage as a regular article with comments enabled. And works fine in that form!!
When I go to the Forum it was posted in, it does not exist. AND THE SAME ERROR MESSAGE HAS NOW RE-APPEARED.
TURN OFF ADVANCED FORUMS:
I turn of the module and hit post topic again, error is back.
This is then a forum module problem and not advanced forum?
But may have been caused by advanced forum?
Create new forum with advanced forum off -- errors persist.
REMOVE CHANGES MADE TO template.php
same errors. verdict not advanced forum.
But what now??

MichelleThis finished up saying the problem wasn't in advforum so marking it fixed.

cburschkaA note: The SQL query in question is failing due to a missing WHERE condition. What a pity that SQL errors are only backtraced properly as of 6.x.
On the odd chance that the SQL query concerned is triggered in core (node.module), I'll try to find out where and if it can happen in other cases - unfortunately I don't have time to test contribs right now.
