Following on from #2015409: Use drupal_http_request instead of cURL, we are no longer seeing the eWay problems however we are seeing the same problem with Website Payments Pro. The cURL request does not complete and the order is left on "Checkout: Review" or the customer is double charged.

I will complete a patch now on the 2.x branch.
