I am designing my website with Drupal 7.22 on a Mac. The website squeezes together when you make the browser thinner instead of staying the same size and letting you scroll around it. Thanks for the help!

What theme are you using, it sounds like you are using a responsive theme and want a fixed theme.

Been trying to learn drupal on the fly... Is there any way to transfer a responsive to fixed theme or am I gonna be looking for a fixed theme and starting all over? I did not pick up on the "Responsive" aspect when I chose the theme.

Which theme did you pick, some theme have a setting to enable/disable responsive behavior.

I have not used that theme, but the project page lists "Fixed Width" suggesting there is an option/setting for the theme that will do what you want. If you can locate such an option you might post in the issue queue for the theme.
