When you condense the browser (i.e., make it skinnier), it doesn't stay the same size and let you scroll around it. Instead, it squeezes together and everything gets all out of whack.

VickiR CreditAttribution: VickiR commentedThat's what "responsive" means. Instead of everything just getting smaller and harder to read in 3 point type, the page rearranges so that your content is readable on devices with smaller screens. It's working the way it's supposed to work. If you have main menu tabs on your front page, notice the cool way that they change to be useful on a smaller touch screen.

tateb CreditAttribution: tateb commentedThanks. I'm new to Drupal, so that aspect did not register with me. Is there a way to turn this off in the css coding? I have designed a good portion and like the style of the theme.

VickiR CreditAttribution: VickiR commentedI wouldn't want to try; you'd have to alter not only the css but the php as well. It might be easier to find another similar, non-responsive theme. Switching themes is easy in Drupal.

As Vicki said it will be easier to choose different theme (non-responsive).
Take a look on my another contrib theme that is non-responsive.

Hope this will help you.
