We are a non profit environmental organization called www.wildsight.ca

We are nearing completion of our design files, and are currently researching potential HTML/CSS converters and ultimately someone to develop the site into a d8 TWIG theme.

A few questions.

1. Is it best to have the original designer of the website theme do the PSD to HTML/CSS conversion if they are keen to do so?
2. Please private message me if you are interested in getting involved in this project! We don't have a rushed timeline as we are waiting for drupal 8, but we do want to get started so that we aren't rushed in the end. We also want to ensure that the theme is built to the highest of drupal standards so that we can take full advantage of all the new drupal 8 functionality (in place editing, integration with WYSIWYG, custom blocks, etc etc.)

IMO it is way to early to develop anything with d8, maybe in the next 6 month more developer has good understanding of how to build d8 properly.

if you can use drupal why use others?

Hi Ryland.

As a contributor to core, I'm very happy to see eager adoption of Drupal in the non-profit sector. However, D8 is at least a year away from its release. We are currently working hard to get all the core templates converted to Twig, the state-of-the-art template system we have adopted for Drupal 8. You can follow the progress in the issues highlighted at https://groups.drupal.org/node/278968

We, Drupal developers, expect Drupal 8 release to hit the ground running: we will have Field UI and Views UI available in core, and there's the wonderful #D8CX pledge to release updated modules as soon as D8 is released. There will be an upgrade path for all the data from core modules and probably from the best supported contributed modules (Rules, Flag, Organic Groups, Field Collection).

That's why I suggest to start the development right away, using Drupal 7 and upgrade it to D8 later, when and if needed. D7 is pretty capable of developing great Web systems, such as the White House and many others showcased in drupal.org: https://drupal.org/case-studies

If you feel inclined to talk more about what you expect from Drupal 8 and whether you can start working with Drupal 7 right away, feel free to contact me.
