As a volunteer for new started nationwide Union for Foreigners with disorders in Denmark I’ve got a task to support organizational processes with computer systems. We have chosen CiviCRM as primary system for registering and management of our members because of its flexibility and free license.
CiviCRM is a most suitable application because it combines all the necessary facilities for non profit organization with very tight budget.
I have spent a lot of hours to install it both on DRUPAL but didn’t get positive results because of different installation’s errors.
I have posted some articles on CiviCRM forum but still haven’t got a solution. Now I’m looking for consultation on other places because CRM system is critical for the organization.
Below are excerpts from my posts to CiviCRM forum which describe the problem.
Any help will be greatly appreciated

I have tried to install CiviCRM 1.9 on Drupal using web-based Automated Installer. The only installation error I’ve got is “Is the temporary folder writeable? | The temporary folder isn't writeable!” but I can’t spring it over.
My site placed on hosting provider and I don’t have direct access to system shell. My hosting provider surely turned safe mode on (I have checked with phpinfo()) and it’s typical setting for the most of them. I know that most of hosts limit access to /tmp directory, does it mean that installation of CiviCRM totally impossible on hosted sites??
I can easily change file permissions via FTP if I could know where the wished folder is situated. I’ve used some hours searching different strings throw PHP code, but I couldn’t find out where this magical folder is placed.

Today I attempted to install on Joomla, still unsuccessfully …
The error is
“Upload new component - Error
Failed to copy file: /hsphere/local/home/...../joomla/administrator/components/com_civicrm/civicrm.php to /hsphere/local/home/...../joomla/components/com_civicrm/civicrm.php”
Desperately moved installation directory to different Joomla catalogues without visible results.
I’m totally disappointed ... wasted 2 days to install CiviCRM on Drupal and then one day on Joomla …
If anybody knows the solution of installation problem or other free CRM systems in this kind, please help us.

Hi,

I am working on getting Civicrm working on a Drupal site (drupal 5.1, Civicrm 1.9 or 2.0). The install seems to go okay, and I can configure the civicrm module to be available, but if I do a couple of searches in civicrm, everything crashes, including the web services as a whole.

Did you ever find solutions to your problem?

Thanks.
