I am using the YouTube field formatter in conjunction with fitvids and this works as it should.

However, if want to show a video thumbnail in a view (and presumably in a teaser) the thumbnail image is also made responsive, expanding to fill its container.

This obviously breaks the idea of displaying a thumbnail and produces undesirable output.

Please provide a default behaviour for non-responsive video thumbnails.

You could wrap the video thumbnail in a wrapper container and then size that with CSS as below.

I haven't tried this with views, but I've done something similar just editing a node. You might be able to set the width of standard field wrapper, or you could use views' rewrite feature to output a wrapper container.

<div class="video-wrapper">
<video>video markup</video>
</div>
div.video-wrapper {
	max-width: 200px;
}

Thanks Dave, I think that would work.
