Drupal Association members fund grants that make connections all over the world.
chx told me the infrastructure team was the place to go to request this.
#drupal-ngo has been a pretty quiet channel for awhile, and I'd like to try to reinvigorate it.
Since January, I've been co-facilitating open discussion calls for nonprofits and activists using Drupal, along with Johanna Bates (hanpersand). I gave the introduction to Drupal Day at the Nonprofit Technology Conference on how to use the Drupal community. I've also been active in the Drupal community for years -- I started the Philadelphia DUG and helped organize four Drupaldelphia camps, and I'm currently the local frontend track chair for Drupalcon Portland.
Really the only reason I'd like official channel op status on #drupal-ngo is to be able to set channel topics -- because it's such a quiet channel, I want to set topics to let folks know what kinds of things are happening (like the monthly calls and Drupal Day).
Let me know if you need any more information or have questions.
My IRC nick, like my d.o username, is rootwork. Thanks!
