Can't add fields, "style selected does not utilize fields"

Okay, I've been fighting with this for awhile now.

I don't have Views 3, so I installed 6.x-1.4. I added a new content type with a date field. I create the View, select Style-->Full Calendar. For the Row style, my option is "Node - FullCalendar". Selecting that Row Style causes the "Fields" area to say "The style selected does not utilize fields." But in order to use it, it says to add at least one field (http://drupal.org/node/1237808) and to add Google Cal integration, I have to add the Fullcalendar: Google Calendar field (http://drupal.org/node/1237774). How do I do that when I can't add any fields because the row style doesn't allow it?
