I must be going nutty, I'm having trouble figuring out exactly how to get the "Add widget" option on the "Add content" modal form. Specifically, I'd like to add the "search form" widget to a test landing page.

I've started with a fresh install of Panopoly RC3, I didn't install either of the demo apps (Panopoly Demo or Panopoly News), and I haven't installed any additional modules. In my past testing of Panopoly (with the demo apps enabled), there was an option to "Add widget" from the "Add content" modal form when editing any region of a "Landing page".

I verified that the "search form" widget is enabled on admin/panopoly/panes (it was originally disabled by default, I enabled it), cleared caches, but I still don't have the option to add it to the landing page.

I searched the issue queue and reviewed the documentation on Drupal.org to no avail.

What am I missing?

Thanks,
-mike

Let me know if this helps:

  1. Structure -> Panels -> Settings -> Panel Pages
  2. Select "Allow other content" and check "Advanced Search form"
  3. Next, when adding content (the modal), select widgets -> Advanced Search Form
  4. On the config, select simple for "Search form"

Arshad,

Okay - so that worked. First off - thanks so much!

By selecting the "advanced search form" checkbox on admin/structure/panels/settings/panel-page, while the "advanced search form" widget is now available, the "user login" and "search form" widgets are also available in the "Widgets" section. I'm now wondering why the "advanced search form" widget has to be available in order for the other two to show up.

Just for the heck of it, I unchecked the "advanced search form" checkbox and both the "search form" and "user login" widgets are still visible. This makes me think that there might be an issue with the initial configuration settings.

Regardless, the settings on admin/structure/panels/settings/panel-page are a BIG help. I hadn't stumbled upon them prior to this.

Thanks,
-mike

Arshad gave some good information here. The other thing to point out is Panopoly Admin disables some of the more "Advanced" options from the admin/panopoly/panes section. You can enable them at admin/panopoly/settings/panopoly_admin which gives you more options.

This should probably be clearer in the documentation.
