Hi,

I am wondering if there is a way to create one mailing list and inside it there would be some options with check boxes that if its checked so the user expect to receive emails from this section or all the sections he checked, rather than create multiple mailing list for each section.

This would be a handy feature, and would be quite easy if mailing lists were made to be fieldable entities as per #2628878: Convert to entities.

At this time, there is no further development for the 7.x branch, only bug fixes. The feature you asked for is already present in the current version 8.x.
