I have just installed the AdaptiveTheme v7 x3.1. Whilst enabling the menu block to appear in the menu region i noticed that when click on menu item which has sub pages, superfish then displays the menu item directly underneath. Although this is great functionality, its not what i want to achieve here. I have enabled Menu-block to appear in sidebar-second and don't want the same sub-page to appear in the main menu. Can someone advise on how to achieve this as i really want to use this theme.

I've attached a screen-shot, the red box i don't want to appear. I have checked the page.tpl but cannot see where i can disable the secondary menu from displaying apart from using a display none on the css.

Dont use a menu block in the Menu bar region, disable it and use the standard main and secondary menus (enable in theme settings).

I am confused by your description, if you don't want a drop menu in the Menu Bar region, why use a Superfish block in the first place?

I'm not using the superfish block by default. This is what the AdaptiveThemes uses out off the box, the site design requires menu block navigation on the right hand-side rather than an expanding menu using superfish control.

I'll give that a try and see if that resolves issues.

AT does not use Superfish out of the box - this I guarantee you is correct.

Superfish can only be enabled by installing the Superfish module and deliberately choosing to use one of its blocks.

I encountered the same issue. On the Superfish block configuration panel, it can be fixed by changing the menu depth to 1, meaning display one level of menu.
