How do I filter by User bundle?

A while back there was a discussion about the fact that when you select a User reference, the list of bundles does not show up (as it does with Node) so you can't filter by Role.

The discussion said that it was working fine in a dev versin back in August. Well, I don't see it in the 7.x-1.0 version and I also tried the current dev version and did not see it. (7.x-1.0+4-dev)

Am I missing something? Which version do I need to be able to use Entity Reference as a User reference that filters by Role? Thanks.

I am using Entity API 7.x-1.0
