At the risk of looking dumb here is a tip that may save you a bunch of wasted time getting this great module to work. Very easy install except for one small gotcha if you aren't paying attention...

Note: This is more a user error caused by poor interface design/layout than a bug.

Tip:
When you add the Manual Crop effect to an image style, click the effect “Add” button before clicking the “Update Style” button.

Problem:
When adding the Manual Crop effect to an image style it is easy to overlook the effect 'Add' button and click the 'Update style' button before the new effect is saved. Since there is no warning or error message the user assumes the new effect has been saved. This creates confusion when you attempt to configure Manual Crop in the content type settings.

Cause:
Lack of consistancy in layout. The effect 'Add' button is on the same line as the effect selection field in contrast to the lower positioned 'Update style' button is positioned below (and larger) and grabs your attention first. The 'Add' button is easily overlooked and the 'Update style' button is clicked before the new Manual Crop effect is saved.

A user interface improvement would be to move the Manual Crop effect 'Add' button position to below the field rather than the current inline, aft position. Not sure if this would require a D7 core update?

Hi,

Thanks for your feedback, but I'm afraid these buttons have nothing to do with Manual Crop, they are part of the Drupal core... So I'm moving your issue to the Drupal project.
