Firstly apologies for the Long title but the requirement is that precise!

NB: LTwS = Long Text with Summary

We, and also I believe a significant number of others in the Community, want to be able to present our clients with a one set of toolbar buttons (let's call it 'Filtered') for the when they editing the Body text of LTwS field and a different much reduced set for when they are editing the Summary text.

We have tried the latest Standalone CKEditor module, and the WYSIWYG module approach and neither cut the mustard; the former always mirrors the Text filter on the Body field and thus provides the same tool bar for the Summary and the latter (WYSIWYG) doesn't provide any CKEditor tool bar at all.

I suppose the real question for you sir (@quicksketch) is 'Is this actually realistically doable at all and then is it likely to be addressed by your new approach?

Many thanks in advance for any advice.

I find this idea a bit hard to manage. Your better approach would be to make a separate field for the summary, then you could, say for example, use plain text for the summary, and filtered text for the body. The other thing needed would be a way to set a input format for each field, not just filtered or plain text, as the ckeditor (wysiwyg) settings are tied to the input format, and I do not believe there is such an ability.

Because this module (like others) uses the text format to determine the toolbar configuration, and the summary and full text fields are bound to the same text format (changing "Filtered HTML" to "Full HTML" affects both fields), this module will have the same results as other modules that are based on this same principle. As @bmx269 says, the most direct fix is to make two fields, one for summary and one for full text. Using a module like Better Formats, you can set a different default format for each of them.

Nate, Better Formats for 7, sweet, I have not used it since 6. Thanks for the heads up.
