We have a Greek website and want to migrate to drupal. The company who will make the project is from abroad (England) not from Greece cause we couldn’t find one .

The developers of the company told us that they do not speak Greek and the menu should be translate by ourselves into Greek.

No problem about that.

Developers from Greece told us that if the initial installation of droupal language is different from that used in the final product, then there may be problems with the translation and the proper appearance in Greek.

What is your opinion?

Thank you for your answer. We know that about the multilanguage capability but a Greek developer told us the following:
"Not a good idea for the final project not to be programed in its final language. Problems will arise with the translation. I do not understand what it means not working Greek. The drupal is made in English and if you want to have the administration page in English, regardless of what language is the page.

There's just 'greek language pack', there is a SERVER (http://localize.drupal.org/, ldo for short) which has translations of drupal core + contrib modules in Greek. It is very easy to add these translations on one page, but:

- Not all contrib modules translated into Greek.
- Not always match the style of the translations on each page.

Also these translations relate only texts show the modules and the core. There are 2 other levels of translation:
1. The words phrases added during development
2. The content of this page"

What is your comment about ?

not all contrib modules translated to greek - if the module uses t strings which all modules worth their salt do use, then strings can be translated even if they aren't included in any language pack.

as far as the style in concerned, I can't speak for that. However, strings can be changed. That's the point of the locale.module in core.

http://drupal.org/project/i18n & http://drupal.org/project/entity_translation are also worth looking into.

So you do not see any obstacle to upgrade our existing website, using a non native company as partner am i right ?

Of course the content of the forums that there are in Greek, nor believe there will have a problem?

I wouldn't think so provided it was developed with care.

Is there a way to see what modules uses an existing module site ?

I would like to suggest the use of some modules i like but i don't know what is the name of them.

Can i see them is some way ?

Thank you a lot for your contribution .

not that i am aware of. You may want to seek out a greek drupal group with google.

I already done that .
