how to prevent Pending members from creating Group Content (and seeing create content links)

Hi - this may be a redundant issue in 2.x but we can't upgrade quite yet.

Scenario is
- user can 'request membership' to the group
- non-members can 'view' the Group Home Page
- Group Home Page (panel) contains the Create Content links

The issue I am hitting in 7.1.x is that Pending members still see 'create content links' in a group they are 'pending' for - though can't then pick that group from Groups field (there are no groups you can select from).

I checked in 2.x at admin/config/group/permissions/node/page to see if 'membership status' was part of the options but don't see it.

IN 2.x will Pending Member be treated as a Member, in terms of the "Organic groups field access " rather than a Non-Member.

Should Pending Member (or Blocked Member) be provided as a separate column so that the Field settings can be a little more nuanced?

I can't judge if this suggestion is valid, and if so whether it is trivial or major - and doubt we can take it on if it is the latter.

But thought I should get some input before delving deeper in to this.
