Is there a way to grant the permission to edit sent messages? Currently not even the site owner can edit messages once they are sent.

There is no way to grant permission to sending messages. Patches are always welcome.

I started work on this feature about a year ago. I am trying to complete it in the next week and commit a patch (while also traveling). If nothing shows up by the end of January 2016, bump the issue. :)
