I was wondering is it possible to have the colorbox-inline open the content of a div class?

I am using the field groups module and it only allows for custom classes in the wrapper not IDs.

The Colorbox plugin needs an ID to locate the inline content. An ID should always unique on a page but a class can show up multiple times. You will need to add an ID one way or another. Usually a theme override is the easiest.
