Tweet Count only using Share This tweet count and not all tweets ever [#1830772]

I transitioned to using this module from the sharebar module. On most of my articles I had more than 20 tweets. Now the Share This module only shows the number of tweets that have been made using the share this buttons on my site.

Is this by design?

Is there a way to index all tweets, likes, pins, etc. made to the page ever?

I've also noticed that this button shows the number of times the button has been clicked - not the number of times the content has actually been tweeted. So you could keep clicking the button and closing the window, and the count will go up, with no tweets.

We are using 7.x-2.9.
