In version 2, the main menu block is really cool. It moves from a horizontal menu on a wide screen to a vertical menu split with the header on a medium screen, to a single vertical menu on a narrow screen.
Version 3 seems to be missing this feature. If I'm just not doing it right, feel free to switch this to a support request and kindly point me to the appropriate documentation.

If I could throw in my two cents, I think the 2.x menu could be improved on by utilizing a feature like the one described here: http://ivanchaquea.com/creating-responsive-menu-omega-subthemes.html
He's using the Omega theme, but I assume it could be applied to AdaptiveTheme based themes too...
