I've set a forum board meant to be visible only to authenticated users. Although anonymous users are blocked from going anywhere else on the site, they have unrestricted access to the Advanced Forum page..! I have not seen any permission to be given on the permission page other than the three permissions (Administer Advanced Forum, View Advanced Forum Statistics, and View last edited notice.)
But no permission based on roles!
I tried to create a limiting rule with Rules, but I could not find a direct reference to the Advanced Forum module (forum topics, however, are not accessible to anonymous users.)
How do I prevent anonymous users from viewing the Advanced Forum main page?

AF does not have any settings for access control but respects those set by other modules. Try the Forum Access module or Taxonomy Access Control for restrictions in forums.
