I'm using Rules to automatically add a product to the cart, however it is always added as a 'product' line item type, not one of the custom line item types I defined. Should there be an option on the "Add a product to the cart" Action which let's you select the line item type?

+1 This feature it would be interesting in cases when is required manipulate some custom line item that is related with product type.
